SOAP Groups
Some people feel more comfortable
talking with one friend than meeting with a whole group of people. At
Evergreen, we believe that one-on-one conversation is community too.
If groups aren't your thing, consider forming your own SOAP Group.
That's just you and one other person meeting for coffee, doing devotions
together.
It's simple.
Choose your favorite coffee place. Starbucks, Tully's, or your
favorite independent store can be your meeting place. Get the scripture
readings for that day. You can find them here. Take an hour to do three
things.
20 minutes reading the Bible passages silently.
20 minutes to write out your reflection. Follow the letters SOAP.
Scripture--write down one verse that speaks to you.
Observation--write what it means.
Application--record what it means for you.
Prayer--now write out your heart response to God.
20 minutes to read out your entry word for word to your friend. Take turns and listen to what your friend has to share.
You will find your conversations will go deep fast.
You have just become a SOAP group!
If you are already meeting with a friend and doing SOAP journaling together, let us know and we'll create a SOAP group on the City so other people can find it.
If you would like to find a SOAP group meeting at a time and place convenient for you, you can find them here by searching for SOAP groups on the City.
