Induction of Senior Pastor Phil McCallum
On March 21st, during both the 9 am and 10:45 am services, the elders of Evergreen will officially lay hands on Pastor Phil McCallum to install him as Senior Pastor.
Instead of rushing an induction ceremony on the first Sunday the new pastor arrived, Evergreen's leaders decided to wait. The goal was to allow a few weeks for the relationship to deepen between Pastor Phil and the congregation, making the laying on of hands a whole church event.
The special guest for Pastor Phil's induction will be Pastor Brady Boyd, the Senior Pastor of New Life Church in Colorado Springs, CO. Pastor Phil most recently served under Pastor Boyd's leadership at New Life.
Prior to taking leadership of New Life Church, Pastor Boyd had served as Associate Senior Pastor of Gateway Church in Dallas, TX. He joined Gateway while it was a start-up church of 100 and watched it grow to over 12,000 in just six years. Pastor Boyd is a Louisiana native, and is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a background in journalism and sports radio.
As Pastor Boyd told the leaders of Evergreen, "When you get Phil, you get what New Life has to offer; we're not releasing Phil, we're sending him to Evergreen." New Life is a church with special strengths in worship, youth ministry and missions. As Pastor Boyd joins the elders of ECC in setting Pastor Phil into the senior pastor's position, the hands of thousands from Colorado are also reaching out to bless the congregation of Evergreen.
