Let Us Reason

“Come now, let’s settle this,” ?says the Lord. (“Let us reason together … “ KJV) ?“Though your sins are like scarlet,? I will make them as white as snow.? Though they are red like crimson,? I will make them as white as wool.? 19 If you will only obey me,? you will have plenty to eat.? 20 But if you turn away and refuse to listen,? you will be devoured by the sword of your enemies. I, the Lord, have spoken!” Isaiah 1:18-20 New Living Translation

We can be so unreasonable!

We all have it in us to defy authority and push as hard as we can against the rules. But since God made the rules that give life meaning and direction, we’d best listen to Him and follow the rules.

God gathers us for the game of life and says, “Here’s is the way the game is to be played. Here are the boundaries and here are the rules.”

We respond, “But in our neighborhood the boundaries are a lot farther out. And we get unlimited strikes. And if we don’t feel like playing we sit out and if we’re having a really good time we never have to take a break. And we play that you can do anything you want to win.”

And God responds, “Oh, really?”

Most of us have laid the two ‘life-living-methods’ side by side and compared them. We know from our own experiences and from the real life examples of others around us that playing by our own rules ultimately results in disastrous living and a really lousy time.

However, those obeying the Rule Giver get to eat of the fat of the land with plenty to eat … and that sure beats being devoured by the sword of the enemy!

Let’s be reasonable. Play by God’s rules.

May there be joy for your journey!
