WOFFs: On the Team and in the Game

Have you noticed? Evergreen Community Church’s seasoned adults have pushed the envelope on active. They are involved in every facet of God’s purpose—from ushers and greeters, to collecting and delivering peanut butter to a Mexican orphanage. They cook and bake for church and outreach events, or comfort babies in the nursery. They fill Christmas shoe boxes, and make crafts for the Easter projects. Many in this age bracket live alone, and hesitate to join social activities. Our seniors, named the West of Fifties Fun (WOFF) link arms and live their name. Their laughter is heard on train trips to Canada and Portland—at dinners following the theater, holiday parties, or just playing games.

These are ordinary people. According to some, they’ve paid their dues, and can spend their time sitting in recliners. However, our WOFFs know they’re on earth for God’s purpose—God’s interesting and satisfying service. They listen to His voice and the needs around them, and like Mary, say “I am the Lord’s servant, willing to do whatever He wants.”

Our WOFFs are a weaving together of God’s ideas, talents, and ministries. They’re a team.
